Ah! Home...

The Black Larch is a tree one might find standing alone on the farm, off to itself but sharing sun with the more majestic Douglas Fir or spotted Sycamore. Tall and as ancient looking as a dried fossil, the Black Larch nevertheless holds its own with the landscape. Stubborn and silent, it is like the old farmer who must endure the elements to survive, withered-looking but every bit as enduring as the verdant world around him.

That is why I chose the name Black Larch Press for this venture. On the farm the lone Black Larch always intrigued me. It wasn't particularly beautiful, but at the same time there was something steadfast and enduring about it. Which is of course symbolic of the rural writer who is oft times overlooked by mainstream publishers in favor of more familiar pop culture icons.

I welcome you to peruse and purchase the few but ever growing number of titles I currently have available. I also encourage other writers of rural fiction to persevere, since the work of America’s rural writers must be heard.
